Peppermint Tea Shawl

So here I am, two hours into my latest enterprise – I’m taking part in a CAL by Black Sheep Wools making a shawl designed by the talented Lisa Cook of Lisa’s Attik. I had thought originally of a cake by Crochet_uk.co.uk but it wasn’t turning out as I wished, probably because the original pattern has been made with a Sheepjes Whirls and the Twister I have here is a similar yarn – twisted and not simply 4-ply. I am more than a little sorry because I am still looking for a great pattern for the Winchester cake, but this is not it I guess. Moreover, this Twister cake I have recently bought reminds me of the colours of tea (not the peppermint one though! more a lemon-y one I guess) and I reckon it’s appropriate. Stay with me to see how it turns out!

Mini Octopus Amigurumi

This pattern by Ess Haytch on Ravelry is one of my go-to amigurumi patterns when I need a quick make. Easy to make and the result is always nice! I have made several, they build up quickly and they are a good stashbuster too. They are perfect when you need a small gift or a new toy for your kids (mine always take them if they see one lying around!) 🙂 Click here for the pattern and enjoy yourself! 🙂

And I also took the fancy to make another shawl. I do that sometimes! For this pattern I used a large cotton cake (1000 mts) by crochet_uk.co.uk in shades of pink and lilac and the result was indeed a long, beautiful wrap! I was very pleased with the result. The pattern certainly teaches you to get into your chain correctly 😅 and requires some counting, but it’s not challenging…
